Fourth of July
Summer in Casper means sunshine, good food, community events and festivities. And there is no better example of that than the Fourth of July. There are endless ways to soak up the summer and celebrate America’s birthday in Casper.
If the Fourth of July for you means fireworks, head to the Ford Wyoming Center for an all-day celebration at 307 Fest. Make your way to the festival before the sun goes down for live music, vendor booths, games and more.
If getting outside on Independence Day is more your style, this holiday is a great time to camp or boat at Alcova and Pathfinder, the nearby reservoirs, or to spend some time on Casper Mountain. Bonus: Alcova Reservoir even has a special firework show that many locals and visitors like to watch from boats on the water.
Another only-in-Casper way to celebrate Independence Day is to visit – the aptly named – Independence Rock. This larger than life landmark was a pivotal milestone for pioneers traveling west on the Oregon Trail. As early Americans traveled to the coast, their goal was to get to Independence Rock by July 4th to ensure they would make it to their destination by winter. Reaching this point was cause for revelry and was the site of many early 4th of July celebrations. Today, you can visit the landmark and get up close and personal with American history.
