Thomas Strauss, organist from Germany will be performing two concerts in March at the First
United Methodist Church and at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Strauss, a native of
Ludwigshafen, Germany is currently organist and choir director at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church in Oppenau, Germany. A graduate of the State Academy of Music in Freiburg, Strauss
studied harpsichord with Robert Hill, choral and orchestra conducting with Hans-Michael Beuerle,
and organ with Ludwig Doerr, Xavier Darasse and Klemens Schnorr. He won the Conservatory
Organ Competition and National Young Musicians Competition of Germany, and holds the
highest church music degree available in Germany. Thomas Strauss will be performing at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 pm in the church sanctuary. The concert is open to the public without charge; a free-will offering will be accepted. Strauss will also be performing at St. Mark’s Episcopal
Church on Wednesday, March 27th at 12:15 for the regularly scheduled Bach’s Lunch
