On November 3rd, Dr. Lisa Kaltenegger, Director of Cornell University’s Carl Sagan Institute, will give a talk at Chicago’s Adler Planetarium which will be live streamed into the Casper Planetarium. You’ll be able to see the visuals on the dome and hear her just as if you were at the Adler, and even ask questions after the presentation (via text). The level is appropriate for teens and adults; seating is limited, so we recommend arriving early.
Thousands of exoplanets have been discovered over the past two decades. In this lecture Dr. Kaltenegger will discuss these discoveries and explore how we can determine which of these exoplanets might be suitable for life. She will discuss techniques and missions to detect life itself on these worlds to finally answer the question”Are we alone in the Universe?
The Planetarium Gift Shop will also be open for extended hours before and after the lecture. We’ll have refreshments, demos of lots of our cool toys, and a 10% discount on everything sold that night … so come early or stay late and get your Christmas shopping started the smart way!
