No matter the tale, there’s always two sides of the story. “Grand Council: The Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851” will feature volunteer Daniel Mattern and NHTIC interpreter Shawn Wade at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 1. This pivotal treaty brought the largest ever gathering of Native Americans to the high plains for meetings with the United States Government in September of 1851. The presentation will feature both Native American and U.S. military perspectives.
The NHTIC proudly presents a summer of free afternoon programs on pioneer and Wyoming history. These short interpretive programs, ranging from 20 to 45 minutes, are free and open to the public.
