Fremont Canyon is located near the town of Alcova about 30 miles southwest of Casper. The North Platte River cuts through the canyon, where it is blocked by Pathfinder Dam to fill Alcova Lake. Its a popular spot for boating, fishing, or just fun in the sun. Climbers from all across the country appreciate the climbing opportunities here as well; climbs range from 40 to 400+ feet and 5.6 to 5.13 in difficulty, so beginners and experienced climbers alike will find just the challenge to suit them. But the real draw of the Canyon are the breathtaking views. As the sun sets and casts a warm, rosy glow upon the canyon walls and flowing waters, you’ll be humbled by nature’s unparalleled splendor.
