Experience one of the great symbols of frontier spirit with a visit to Independence Rock.
More than 150 years ago, emigrants were forging West toward the the promise of a new, brighter future. Along the way, many stopped in Central Wyoming at a large granite formation located about 50 miles southwest of Casper. As a testament to their journey, they carved their names into a behemoth rock that stands 136 feet tall and covers 24.81 acres. This incredible structure is now known as Independence Rock.
