Brook Kreder may have grown up in Nebraska, but to her, Casper has always felt like home. As an entrepreneur with experience in marketing, consulting, brand building and strategic planning, Brook believes collaboration and investing in opportunities are the key to a successful tourism campaign. In addition to creating a popular blog for women runners along with her book Onward! The Sole Revolution, Brook has started small businesses, grown large ones and enhanced tourism in many communities. She’s attracted to projects where she can instigate constructive and meaningful change, so as VisitCasper CEO, she is thrilled to have an opportunity to impact the city she loves.
Working with a highly qualified and experienced CVB staff, Brook is excited to grow Casper’s meeting and conventions business, develop front-line staff training programs and create new opportunities with important stakeholders — Casper’s residents. And while the town's positioning as a gateway to Yellowstone with world-class fishing, recreation and historical attractions makes Casper an easy to sell to tourists, Brook believes friendly locals are our community’s best asset.
A Wyoming native, Kathy Henion earned her degree from National University in Rapid City, South Dakota. After moving to Casper in 1984, she worked closely with the executive director and board of directors of the statewide association representing Wyoming’s electric cooperatives. She was also responsible for planning association meetings across the state and chaperoned Wyoming’s Youth Tour representatives to Washington, D.C., each year.
Kathy joined the Visit Casper team in 2006. She has a deep understanding of the support needs of meeting planners and abundant local knowledge. She thrives in her role as the person behind the scenes who makes sure events run smoothly and successfully. She is the mother of three grown children, all of whom reside in Casper, and enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends exploring all of the great opportunities in Casper and Wyoming.
Director of Group Services
Darlene Matz moved to Wyoming in 1980 and settled in Casper in 1985. She grew up traveling the world as an "Army brat" living in Germany, South Korea and cities all across the United States. Given her nomadic childhood, it's not surprising that she chose the travel industry as her career. After two years as a travel agent, she joined the Travel Management Agency, Wyoming's largest travel agency with offices in Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Rock Springs, Green River and Riverton. She rose quickly within the organization and ran the day to day operations of the agency until it closed in 2008.
In 2009 she joined the Visit Casper team and is currently the Director of Group Services. Darlene has always had an enthusiasm for the travel and event industries and enjoys working with event planners to ensure their events are successful. She has earned all three certifications in the Destination Marketing Specialist program from the Wyoming Office of Tourism, and recently received the Customer Service Employee of the Year award from the REACH program, which is administered by the Wyoming Office of Tourism.
